WE ASKED
Players from the field
of|active tourism:
What kind of experience do more active visitors to
spas in Bohemia and Moravia have. Don’t they get a bit
bored? What kind of activities do you offer people who
want to keep fit and get their adrenalin pumping?
T
his year we have come up with several new features for guests|as
far as active recreation is concerned, a key feature of breaks at
Resort Luhačovice. For cyclists we have reissued the cycling map of
Luhačovice and the surrounding area, and we have traced some routes on
CykloVýjezd, a thing we would like to do again in the autumn. Working
with a local cycle shop and the BIFU hire point we are putting together
special packages which will include a guide and electric bike or scooter
hire, which are ideal for the trail around the Luhačovice Dam, for instance.
For extreme sports fans we are just about to open a unique summer slide
where visitors can slither along for up to 150 m. For ladies who prefer
gentler forms of relaxation we are putting on an autumn Yoga Weekend,
which will include yoga workshops, outdoor exercise sessions and advice
on relaxation techniques, an integral part of yoga. Hotels in the Resort
Luhačovice are ready to promote active recreation as a part of wellness
breaks and life at the spa, because as we all know so well, today’s guests
wants a lot more than just mini-golf and a hotel pool. That’s why we
have conceived Resort Luhačovice as a place of varied holiday experiences.
There’s no language barrier with most of the activities on offer and
English-speaking interpreters are on hand if need be.
I
n addition to hydrotherapy Vincenz Priessnitz stressed the importance
of active recreation outdoors, an approach that came in for praise
from Gogol and King of Bavaria Maxmilian I to name but two. Our
spa is considered one of the least polluted locations in Europe, with a
climate similar to those in Bad Gastein and Carlsbad Cavity in the|USA.
That’s why Priessnitz’s procedures and climatotherapy have become our
basic building blocks.
Nordic walking in these surroundings, accompanied by|professional
instructors, is a tried and tested way of strengthening mind and body.
Core activities include all levels of hiking and cycling in the Jeseníky
and Rychleby Mountains. Cyclists looking for a bit of excitement should
head for the nearby Rychlebské trails. And what unique features will
visitors find here? After engaging in sports activities we can boast the
best recovery procedures. Not only can you enjoy a massage but there’s
also the Balneopark to unwind in, a place where you can try procedures
which involve switching between cold water and a warm environment,
strengthening your body’s immunity in the process. So what are you
waiting for? Come and visit the world’s first hydrotherapy spa! Our team
of professional and linguistically trained staff are waiting to welcome you.
T
he new season sees Czech spas focusing on more active tourists!
Once again this year specialized breaks are the fashion in modern spa
care. These are mainly of interest to families with children, sports fans and
young couples. Sport in particular is becoming a popular activity during
spa breaks. In the Jeseníky Nordic walking has been joined by cycling on
the well-known Rychlebské trail as a popular activity. The local Priessnitz
Spa is also creating a fitness park for the new season and guests can hire
electric bikes and scooters. Lázně Luhačovice is also homing in on sports
and fitness fans – their Active Holiday wellness package even reaped
deserved success at the Tourism Grand Prix competition. The ever-popular
game of golf is included in packages at the Hotel Esplanade in Mariánské
Lázně. The travel site Tripadvisor voted the Esplanade the second best
hotel outside Prague for 2014. Spa houses are also focusing on more
traditional clients. In Karlovy Vary a new hydrotherapy centre has opened
and in Bohdaneč there’s a new post-op department. Lázně Luhačovice
offers Regeneration breaks for the back and joints, a product which won
the Hit of 2014 award. Spas in the Jeseníky have come up with new
procedures involving hemp, coconut and hops.
